What is the Oklahoma Impaired Driving Prevention Summit?

The Summit is a gathering of people from a variety of backgrounds who share a common interest in preventing impaired driving. Attendees will include judges, attorneys, law enforcement officers, prevention specialists, corrections officers, mental health experts, community organization representatives, highway safety officials and others.

The Summit agenda will include both plenary sessions and breakout groups designed to educate attendees on the latest information and technology. The goal is to share knowledge and gain new insight into impaired driving issues across the state.

Who is organizing this event?

The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office is organizing the Summit, in partnership with the District Attorney’s Council, the Administrative Offices of the Court, the Oklahoma Board of Tests for Alcohol and Drug Influence, the University of Oklahoma Office of Continuing Legal Education, and others.

Where is the Oklahoma Impaired Driving Prevention Summit held?

The Summit will be held at the Embassy Suites Norman – Hotel & Conference Center, Norman, Oklahoma.

Is there a fee involved with attending the Summit?

No. There is no charge to attend the Summit..

Are CEU’s, CLEET or Bar credits available?

The Summit has been presumptively approved for:

 up to 16 hours of CLEET credit (law enforcement)

 up to 10 CEU credits (mental health/behavioral)

 up to 9.5 CLE credits (legal professions)

During the sign-in process on site, attendees will have the opportunity to add bar numbers, CLEET numbers and request CEU’s.

When does registration open? Is there a registration deadline?

Registration opens Dec. 15, 2011. Final registration deadline is Feb. 15, 2012.

Are meals provided?

A continental breakfast and a buffet lunch for all attendees will be provided free of charge on Monday, Feb. 27 and Tuesday, Feb. 28. Continental breakfast only will be provided on Wednesday, Feb. 29. Those who stay overnight at the hotel receive a complimentary full breakfast in the hotel restaurant as part of their room package.

Is lodging provided?

Lodging will be provided for speakers and attendees from government and non-profit entities who are traveling 60 miles or more to attend the Summit. If you live less than 60 miles from Norman, you may still request a hotel room at your own expense. See the registration form for details. Rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to final OHSO approval. Registrants whose lodging requests are not approved will be notified by the OHSO office.

As an attendee, do I need to make my own hotel reservations?

No. Attendees from government and non-profit entities who need lodging will provide that information when they register for the Summit. Hotel arrangements will be made by OU Conference Planners. (See question above for lodging requirements.)

How do I register to participate as a vendor?

An exposition room will be provided during the Summit. If you are an exhibitor, or if you would like to suggest one, vendor forms are available on Vendor link  located at top of website.

If my situation changes and I am unable to attend after registering, may I transfer my registration to a colleague?

Substitutions are allowed; please submit your request to Alice Collinsworth (acollins@dps.state.ok.us). Please include the words SUBSTITUTION REQUEST in the subject line of your e-mail.

Why am I receiving e-mails from ConferencePros at the University of Oklahoma?

The Oklahoma Highway Safety Office has contracted with the University of Oklahoma to assist with event coordination. Registration and event facility information will be handled by ConferencePros.
